Russia-Ukraine war: Third round of talks between Russia and Ukraine is over, no ceasefire has been discussed
Mikhail Podolik, an adviser to the Ukrainian president’s office, was part of a delegation led by the Ukrainian side. He said some basic political issues were discussed in depth during the talks on ceasefire and security assurance.
The Russian delegation was led by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, and Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Grizlov. Leonid Slutsky, Minister of State for International Affairs, Chairman of the Duma Committee.
At the same time, the Ukrainian delegation included Mikhail Podolik, an adviser to the Ukrainian president’s office, David Arkhamia, head of the ruling Servant of the People’s Party in the Ukrainian parliament, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and other Ukrainian politicians.
UN Security Council discusses humanitarian situation in Ukraine
The UN Security Council met on Monday to discuss the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Since the start of the Russian invasion, more than 1.7 million Ukrainians have been reported to have entered Central European countries. The United Nations is pursuing diplomatic efforts to end the military conflict.
France and Mexico last week drafted a resolution for the UNSC to address the humanitarian impact of the conflict, although it is unclear whether it was formally presented at Monday’s meeting.
