Ukraine’s state nuclear company says many Russian troops occupying the Chernobyl nuclear power plant have left. Ukraine says two units of Russian troops have moved towards the Belarusian border, leaving only a few at the scene.

According to the Ukrainian Atomic Energy Agency, Russian troops are leaving the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and heading for the Belarusian border with Ukraine.

Nuclear power operator Energoatom says the Russian military is also preparing to leave the nearby town of Slavutik, where workers at the nuclear power plant live.

According to Energoatum, reports have confirmed that Russian troops have dug a trench in the Red Forest area, about 10 kilometers from the Chernobyl plant. Russian troops were also exposed to the radiation. Russian troops fell ill with radiation and it was decided to leave the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Four active power plants in Ukraine have 15 nuclear reactors and the Chernobyl plant, which was the epicenter of the 1986 nuclear tragedy. The Russian army took control of the largest active power plants in Chernobyl and Zaporizhiya.
