US evacuates more than 5,500 of its citizens from Afghanistan: Spokesperson

Washington, Aug 29 (PTI) The US has safely evacuated about 5,500 of its civilians from Afghanistan, including about 50 who were evacuated yesterday. Apart from this, there are about 250 Americans who are trying to leave the war-torn country. The US State Department gave this information on Sunday. A spokesman for the ministry said that since August 14, approximately 5,500 or more American citizens have been evacuated from Afghanistan. These include 50 people who were evacuated yesterday. “There our people are helping such people round the clock in view of the security situation. Some people have arrived or are in the process of arriving at Hamid Karzai International Airport. They know how they reached us.”

“Additionally, we are in contact with approximately 280 individuals who have identified themselves as Americans in Afghanistan but are unable to decide whether to leave,” the spokesman said. There are people who don’t want to leave the country.”
