Tropical storm over the Atlantic Ocean

Miami, Sep 19 (AP) Tropical Storm ‘Peter’ formed over the Atlantic Ocean early on Sunday, with a new tropical pressure forming in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean, meteorologists said.

The US National Hurricane Center in Miami said in an advisory issued at 5 a.m. that Hurricane Peter was located about 1,015 kilometers east of the northern Leeward Islands.

The tropical storm is expected to bring rain to several islands, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, through Tuesday. Meteorologists have predicted three to five centimeters of rain.

Winds are blowing at a speed of 65 kilometers per hour due to the effect of the storm. ‘Peter’ is moving towards the northwest at a speed of 24 kmph. No Coastal Warning has been issued yet.

Meanwhile, Tropical Pressure ‘Seventeen’ also originated on Sunday. Scientists said that it is located about 530 km south-west of southern Cabo Verde island. It is expected to intensify into a tropical storm by Sunday or Monday.
