Four killed in shootings in northwestern Syria

Beirut, Sep 8 (AP) Four people were killed and more than 12 wounded on Tuesday night when government forces opened fire in rebel-held areas in northwestern Syria, officials said. Opposition activists said a child and a woman were also among the dead. The shootings in the city of Idlib followed several air strikes in an area along the Turkish border. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based organization that monitors the war in Syria, said four people were killed and 15 others were wounded in the shootings.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based organization that monitors the war in Syria, said four people were killed and 15 others were wounded in the shootings. He said a man and his son were also among the dead.

The opposition Syrian Civil Defense, known as the ‘White Helmets’, confirmed four people had been killed in Idlib.

Northwest Syria has seen sporadic military activity since a ceasefire in March 2020, brokered by Turkey and Russia. Turkey and Russia support opposition parties in the Syrian civil war.
