Washington, Aug 24 (AP) Dr. Anthony Fauci, America’s top infectious disease expert, expects an uptick in anti-Covid vaccination once Pfizer’s vaccine is approved by the US government. The country’s top infectious disease expert said Monday’s decision by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) should be encouraging to those who did not get the anti-Covid vaccine, citing the vaccine was not adequately approved. The FDA previously approved Pfizer’s vaccine for emergency use.

Fauci said on NBC’s ‘Today Show’ that the FDA’s approval means there will be “enthusiasm” about vaccinations in workplaces, colleges and universities and the military. He said it would help increase America’s vaccination rate.

On the FDA’s decision to allow Pfizer to advertise the vaccine, Fauci said it should help. Government figures show that nearly half of the US population has not been vaccinated.
