US officials in Afghanistan have handed over a list of Afghan civilians assisting the US Army to the Taliban. Now the Taliban have complete information about who helped the US army against them. It is believed that on the basis of this list, the Taliban can prepare a new killing list for retaliation.
America had handed over the list with this intention
After the Taliban captured Kabul earlier this month, US officials handed over a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies to the terrorist group, according to Politico. The US did this to allow these people to enter Taliban-controlled areas around the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
Taliban killing US military allies Afghans
The decision came despite the Taliban’s brutal killing of Afghans who supported the US military and other Western forces during the war after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The report said the move came amid the turmoil in the Afghan capital after the Taliban took over the country, evacuating thousands of civilians.
Biden administration relying heavily on Taliban
The move was also due to the Biden administration’s reliance on the Taliban for security outside the airport. After the Taliban’s capture of Kabul, nearly a million people have been driven out of the country, most of whom had to pass through several Taliban checkpoints. But the supply of selected names to the Taliban has angered lawmakers and army officials.
US defense official told sad
A defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the matter, said basically they wanted to put all those Afghans on the kill list. It is disappointing and sad. Asked about the report, President Joe Biden said he does not believe there is such a list but also did not rule out that the US sometimes gives lists of such names to the Taliban.
