The central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party has become active from now on so that the violence in Lakhimpur of Uttar Pradesh is not lost in the elections. According to party sources, BJP’s organization general secretary BL Santosh and BJP’s in-charge for UP elections Dharmendra Pradhan are keeping an eye on the activities related to Lakhimpur Kheri.
Regarding this incident that happened just before the UP elections, the BJP feels that the opposition parties are trying to capitalize on it for political gains. A senior party leader said, “After the Lakhimpur incident, it will be our endeavor that the opposition should not spoil the atmosphere of the state further.”
The BJP has decided that the Congress should be especially hit back because the BJP feels that the Congress has tried to take political advantage of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident by sending its Chief Minister and other leaders to UP.
A senior BJP leader said that by doing this the Congress has started a wrong tradition. “Imagine if we start sending our chief ministers to their states amid the deteriorating law and order situation! Politics should not be done on everything. The government cannot allow such opportunistic politicians to spoil the atmosphere,” he said.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who has been made senior observer by Congress for the UP elections, and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa were denied permission to visit Lakhimpur Kheri.
After talking to the farmers, the UP government announced compensation and jobs for the families of the victims. A retired judge of the High Court will investigate the incident on Sunday. Violence erupted after an incident of car ramming on protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday afternoon. A total of eight deaths have been reported in the entire case.
