He further said, “BJP is a ‘jumla’ party. They lie that we don’t allow Durga Puja, Laxmi Puja in the state. But how will Durga Puja happen if BJP people keep imposing Section 144?

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said they were not allowed to campaign near West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence for the Bhawanipur bypoll. BJP state unit president Sukanta Majumdar claimed that he was stopped from campaigning on Harish Chatterjee Street, which leads to Mamata Banerjee’s residence. Mamta is also a candidate in this by-election.


He alleged that the police stopped the BJP from campaigning as the Trinamool Congress feared defeat in the September 30 elections. Dismissing the allegations, Akash Magharia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said, “They did not have vaccination certificates and were trying to enter the high security area, so they were asked to go on another road.” There was also an altercation between MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahto and Magharia on the spot. Mahto claimed that they were following the limited number of people specified by the Election Commission to campaign from house to house, but police said there were more people in the party.

Majumdar, who was campaigning on another street, told reporters, “Trinamool is scared and will not allow BJP to campaign, but people will break the barriers.” Is. “The professional attitude of West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police is over,” he said.
