Amidst the celebrations over 100 billion corona vaccines in the country, the central government has written a letter to the states seeking answers, which are lagging behind in applying the second dose of the vaccine. The Center has written a letter to the states asking them not to delay in giving the second dose of the corona vaccine. So far there are 9 crore people in the country who have got the first vaccine of Corona, but are waiting for the second dose. The states to which the Center has written a letter include Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Odisha. In these states, 27 percent of the total 9 crore people are present. A copy of the letter written by Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan to the states is available with Hindustan Times.

It has been decided to keep a gap of 12 weeks between the first and second doses of Kovishield vaccine. Apart from this, a gap of 4 weeks has been kept between both the doses of indigenous covaccine. Of all the corona vaccines that have been administered in the country so far, 90 percent of the number is from the first dose. It is necessary to have both vaccines to protect against corona. In such a situation, concerns have increased due to a large number of vaccines being administered. This has increased the risk of breakthrough infection. In particular, the risk of getting infected with mutant variants of corona increases.
