Wave of mourning from Kashmir to Bihar, terrorists have killed 11 civilians so far this month

The situation in J&K is tense as terrorists continue to target civilians in brutal attacks. With many of the victims being non-Muslim minorities or non-locals, these attacks have instilled fear among civilians. At least 11 killings in the last one month by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army has led to crackdown on terrorists.

More than 700 people were detained for questioning in connection with the attacks last week. Security forces have also launched several operations to flush out the terrorists. Many soldiers have also been martyred during the operation.

On Sunday, two more non-local laborers from Bihar were shot dead by terrorists in Kulgam. Shots were fired at one’s rented shop.

Civilians killed in terror attacks in J&K this month:
Mohammad Shafi Dar:
Earlier this month, Mohammad Shafi Dar was killed by terrorists. Dar was killed by terrorists on October 2 for his alleged links with the security forces.

Majid Ahmed Gojri: Gojri, a resident of Chhatabal in Srinagar, was shot dead by terrorists near Madina Complex in Karan Nagar area on October 2. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. He was also suspected of helping the security forces.

Makhan Red Dot: Makhan Lal Bindru, a prominent Kashmiri Pandit, was shot dead at point-blank range at his pharmacy in Srinagar on 5 October. He was also taken to the hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. Bindru was 68 years old. He and his family were living in Kashmir in the 1990s.

Virendra Paswan: A street food vendor was shot dead in Srinagar’s Lal Bazar on the same day Bindru was killed. Paswan was a resident of Bhagalpur in Bihar.

Mohammad Shafi Lone: Shafi, the chairman and cab driver of a taxi stand in Bandipora, was shot dead on the same day Bindu and Paswan were shot dead. Lashkar terrorist Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar, who was fleeing after killing Shafi, was gunned down by security forces in an operation a few days later.

Supinder Kaur: Kaur, the principal of a government school in Srinagar, was murdered on 7 October. Kaur was in Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Idgah area. The terrorists stormed the premises and shot them.

Deepak Chand: The teacher in Supinder Kaur’s school, Chand was a Hindu from Jammu. He was also shot dead in the school at around 11 am the same day.

Sageer Ahmed: Sagir Ahmed, a carpenter from Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead by terrorists in Pulwama on October 16. Ahmed was a resident of Saharanpur and was in critical condition after the attack on Saturday. He died soon thereafter.

Arbind Kumar Shah: Terrorists shot dead Shah, who was a gol-gappa seller, in Srinagar on Saturday. He was a resident of Banka in Bihar. He was 30 years old. He was selling gol-gappas outside a park in the city’s Idgah area when he was murdered. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for his family.

Raja Reshi Dev: Dev, a laborer from Bihar, was shot dead in a rented shop in Wanpoh, Kulgam today.

Joginder Reshi Dev: The terrorists also shot dead Joginder, who was living with Raja Dev at the same shop today. The terrorists stormed the shop and opened fire, killing both Joginder and Raja of Bihar. Another person was injured. The incident took place near the residence of the former MLA.
