Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar has been appointed as the new Navy Chief. Hari Kumar is currently the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command and will assume his new office on November 30. The Ministry of Defense gave this information on Tuesday. At present, the command of the Navy is in the hands of Admiral Karambir Singh.
Apart from this, senior Indian Police Service officers Sheel Vardhan Singh and Atul Karwal were on Tuesday appointed as the chiefs of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) respectively. Singh is a 1986 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre and is currently posted as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. According to an order issued by the Personnel Ministry, Singh has been appointed as the Director General of CISF and will continue to hold the position till his retirement on August 31, 2023.

According to the order, Karwal, a 1988 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of NDRF and for this the post of the chief of the force has been temporarily extended by two years to DG (Director General). Karwal is currently the director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy located in Hyderabad.
