However, this campaign was started only in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and some districts of Gujarat. At the same time, many states have refused to start the vaccination program citing vaccine stock. On the first day only one thousand people between the ages of 18 and 44 were vaccinated in Mumbai.
In Uttar Pradesh, the campaign to vaccinate people aged 18–44 years started on time. At the beginning of the vaccination, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the Avantibai Vaccination Center and took stock of the vaccination campaign started for people above 18 years of age. In the initial phase, the vaccination campaign is being carried out in only seven districts. These districts are Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Bareilly, ie these seven cities above 18 years of age are being vaccinated.
Immunization starts in Chhattisgarh: In Chhattisgarh too, vaccination of people in the age group of 18 to 44 started. According to the Chief Minister’s order, Antyodaya and priority ration card holders living below the poverty line have started vaccination in the initial phase. A vigorous vaccination campaign has been started in all the four development blocks of the district. However, the campaign could not be started in many districts.
Started in ten districts of Gujarat: Vaccination started in ten districts of Gujarat. During this time, people of the youth class outside the vaccination centers were seen standing in queues waiting for their turn. Officials said that the vaccination campaign has started in the worst affected districts of Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Kutch, Mehsana, Bharuch and Gandhinagar. He said that the Gujarat government had ordered 2.5 crore doses to vaccine manufacturers, of which the state has received only three lakh doses, so a campaign has been started in limited districts.
One thousand people got vaccinated on the first day in Mumbai: 1,000 people were vaccinated in Mumbai on the first day of vaccination to persons between 18 and 44 years of age. An official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the civic body has targeted to vaccinate 2,500 people between the ages of 18 and 44 on Sunday. Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani said, “Today we had targeted to vaccinate 200 people between the ages of 18 to 44 in each of our five centers, which has been achieved.” It is estimated that 200 people will be vaccinated in each center. However, the campaign could not be started in other districts of Maharashtra.
Campaign not started in these states
Punjab : Due to the lack of vaccine, the campaign to vaccinate people between 18 and 45 years.
Himachal : State Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said that vaccination will start on vaccine availability.
Assam : A top official of the National Health Mission (NHM) said, “People will get the vaccine as soon as they get the vaccine from the Government of India.”
Goa : Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that Pune-based Serum Institute of India has ordered dosages. The campaign will start soon.
Jharkhand : Arun Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, said, “Both companies have not supplied vaccines so far.”
Bihar : The state government said that after the availability of vaccines, a campaign to vaccinate the youth will be started.
