Tough October for Kashmir Valley, 44 deaths in terrorist incidents; 13 civilians lost their lives


The month of October in Jammu and Kashmir has proved to be the most murderous month of this year so far. A total of 44 deaths have taken place in terrorist encounters in a single month. On one hand, the security forces have killed 19 terrorists in the encounter, while on the other hand 12 security personnel have been martyred. Apart from this, 13 civilians have died in terrorist attacks. Despite a decrease in the incidents of ceasefire and infiltration with Pakistan since February this year, there has been an increase in violent incidents on many fronts in Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 13 civilians including 5 outside laborers have been killed by the terrorists.

These include three people from the minority communities of the Valley. In this way, the terrorists have tried to create panic among the common people, whom till now they used to avoid targeting. Due to these incidents, migration from the valley has also increased and so far more than 350 families have left. However, in response to the terrorist attacks, the security forces have taken strong action. For the past 20 days, security forces have surrounded the terrorists in the forests of Rajouri-Poonch. So far, the security forces have killed 19 terrorists in 14 encounters.


Supporters of terrorists removed from job

Apart from these encounters, the Jammu and Kashmir government has also taken strict action. Taking action on the supporters of terrorists and overground workers, they have been removed from their jobs. However, for the past week or so, the atmosphere seems a bit calm. Recently, Home Minister Amit Shah had arrived on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and had a meeting with several officials including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

During this, he had also come to meet the family members of the martyred policeman Ahmed Dar and said that the whole country is with him. Not only this, he had said that the government is ready for talks with the youth of Kashmir. In this way, the central government has decided to go ahead with the policy of strictness against terrorists and dialogue with local people. In such a situation, it has to be seen that what is the effect of this policy in the coming days.
