According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains are likely over West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha during the next 5 days. A Low Pressure Area lies over South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts off northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards during next two days.

The western end of the Monsoon Trough is running along the Himalayan foothills and the eastern end is passing through Hardoi, Gaya, Jamshedpur. The Low Pressure Area is centered over West Central and adjoins Northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining North Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coasts.

Due to this reason, widespread rainfall is likely over West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha during the next 5 days. Heavy rain is very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, Telangana and Jharkhand on Wednesday and Thursday and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha till August 20.

Heavy rains are very likely to continue over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 4-5 days. Light rain is very likely to continue over Northwest India and Gujarat during the next 4 days.
