Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has once again spoken out in support of the farmers’ protest. He said in a Facebook post that there was no solution to the issue without repealing the agricultural law. The government has to obey the farmers. Priyanka Gandhi said the 7th round of talks between the farmers and the government on the peasant movement ended on Friday. We, the Punjab MPs, sat in a dharna in support of the farmers and said that we would never go back to anything. The farmers had hoped that the BJP government would give some respect to the farmers as per their statement, but the opposite happened. The negotiating minister came to the meeting late and talked about not withdrawing the bill.

Farmers are angry with the government’s position. “As I sat in a dharna with Punjab MPs this afternoon in support of the farmers, I could hear voices of support for the farmers’ movement from every corner of India throughout the day,” Priyanka said. On January 22, 2020, we will celebrate our Republic Day. Whenever we talk about the minds of the people of this country, it is necessary to mention the farmer. Mention of the cultural, social and political structure of India is incomplete without the peasantry. Today, the BJP government adopted the slogan of “self-reliance” as farmers took part in the green revolution and made India self-sufficient in food grains long ago.

Today, about 60 farmers have lost their lives in this whole movement. Farmers ate sticks, faced tear gas bullets, suffered water cannons, reacted to misinformation spread by government machinery and a section of the media, fell cold, and even stabilized in the rain. Farmers are determined to stop their hard work of the year. Farmers who work hard in this world and provide food for the whole country are on the streets today to prove the truth of these laws.

Today, this country has to think whether the peasant law will be made from the peasant law or in the drawing room of the industrialist friends of the BJP government. The peasants, many MPs and legislators of this country who have made the laws of this country and billions of ordinary people have called these laws undemocratic and imposed on the peasants. But the whole nation is shocked by the behavior of the BJP government. Farmers were stopped at places and threatened. Nehru used to say that everything can wait but not the peasants. Freedom heroes Mahatma Gandhi ji, Sardar Patel ji, Jawaharlal Nehru ji supported the voice of the peasants and I stood by them.
