The vivacity of 67-year-old ‘young’, completed the journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 12 days by cycle


Age is just a number for lively people. Mohinder Singh Bharaj, one of these vivacious people, at the age of 67, traveled from Kashmir to Kanyakumari by bicycle. Mohinder set a new record by completing this feat in just 12 days. Mohinder Singh prefers to call himself a young man of 67 years rather than an old man.

Mohinder Singh Bharaj, a resident of Nashik, Maharashtra, traveled from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on a bicycle along with some of his companions. He covered the 3600 km journey from Srinagar to Kanyakumari in just 12 days 18 hours 57 minutes.

Talking to PTI over phone, Mohinder said that I have seen negativity in elderly people but I am always a positive thinking person. That’s why my friends are young from 18 to 45 years old. Mohinder said these things while coming back from Kanyakumari.


Mohinder prefers to hear himself as a young man of 67 years rather than an old man of 67. Mohinder and his team set out on a journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari under ‘Race Against Age’. Mohinder and his team reached Kanyakumari at 2 pm on Sunday night. Right now they are coming back from Kanyakumari towards Maharashtra. Mohinder said that his journey was very exciting. Their journey began with the bitter cold of Srinagar, reaching Kanyakumari, battling the rain of Bengaluru with the heat of Jhansi.

Mohinder said, “As a cyclist, I paid a lot of attention to my diet as cycling requires 10,000 calories per day. There were a total of 6 people in the team with me.

Talking to PTI, Mohinder said that he would continue to cycle in future also. Also, will continue to do long distance journeys. He stressed that much remains to be achieved. Said, “My journey as a motivator will go on longer.”
