Appearing before the Goa police on Monday, SG Tushar Mehta said the victim was suffering from lung problems and could not travel at present. So more time is needed to finish the investigation. On this, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing till October 15 and sought a reply from Tejpal.
Earlier on August 19, 2019, Tehelka’s former editor-in-chief, Tarun Tejpal, was shocked by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court then dismissed Tejpal’s plea and directed to start trial in the sexual harassment case. The apex court has lifted the ban on hearing the case in the lower court of Goa. The lower court was also directed that the case should be completed within six months.
Tejpal has been charged with rape and sexual harassment by a female colleague. In 2013, the Goa lower court framed charges against Tejpal under other sections, including rape and sexual harassment. This was challenged by Tarun Tejpal in the Supreme Court.
