The pace of vaccination has been slow for 13 days after making a record of two hundred and fifty crore vaccines within a day in the country. From September 20 to October 3, on an average, only 68.38 lakh vaccines have been administered in the country every day. Whereas from September 1 to 20, an average of 89.54 lakh vaccines were administered daily. Experts say that it will be difficult to vaccinate all adults by the end of this year if vaccination is not done at a steady pace.
Speed slow after two hundred and fifty million vaccines
A record 251 crore vaccines were administered in the country on the occasion of Prime Minister Modi’s birthday on September 17. This was the first time that a country had given so many vaccines within 24 hours. However, for the next two days, there was a big drop in vaccination. On September 18, only 88.37 lakh vaccines were administered and on September 19, 40.43 lakh vaccines were administered. Then on September 20, one crore vaccines were given. However, for six days, less than 70 lakh vaccines were administered. Then on September 27, one crore vaccines were administered. After that re-vaccination slowed down. From 28 September to 3 October, less than 80 lakh vaccines were administered every day. In this way, an average of 68.38 lakh vaccines were administered daily from September 21 to October 3.
89 lakh vaccines were administered daily till September 20
Last month from September 1 to 20, an average of 89.54 lakh vaccines were administered every day. Twice in this period, one crore vaccines were administered on 6th and 20th September, while 250 crores were administered once. By mid-September the speed of vaccination was very good, but from September 21, vaccination started declining. From September 21 to October 3, only 68.38 lakh vaccines are being administered daily in the country.
107 crore vaccines needed every day
The central government announced in May that all adults would be vaccinated by the end of this year. To achieve this target, 107.4 crore vaccines should be administered every day in the country. Whereas at present only 68.38 lakh vaccines are being administered in the country every day. Experts say that recently India has given more than 10 million vaccines in a day, which shows its ability to vaccinate so many vaccines. The only need is that the government should be able to maintain this pace every day.
Less than half of the vaccines were administered in cities compared to villages
Vaccination is already slow in urban areas compared to rural ones. Before September 20, half of the vaccines were being administered in urban areas as compared to rural centres. But after 21 September this gap has widened further. For example, on September 21, 55 lakh vaccines were administered in rural areas and 23 lakh in urban, 78 in rural areas and 29 lakh in urban on 27th September. On October 1, 50 lakh vaccines were administered in villages and 21 lakh in cities. A total of 90.79 crore vaccines have been administered in the country so far.
