Of the 35 units ordered, only 12 are not working and are with DRDO.

In 2007, a US agency was accused by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of irregularities in the purchase of 35 radio frequency generators for the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

DRDO’s Defense Avionics Research Establishment (DARE) scientists Akon Inc. and Priya Suresh have been charged with fraud. These generators were purchased at a cost of 10,80,450. In February 2009, 35 unit generators were sent to DRDO in three consignments. The company Akon Inc. received 90 percent payments.

But 23 units sent to DRDO were returned to the United States in the name of repairs and upgrades within a week of delivery, and the company has not yet delivered fully operational units.

Priya Suresh suggested sending the units back but there is no record of it. Subsequently, Mrs. Suresh cleared the remaining money (10 percent) to the American agency despite the units being incomplete and repatriated.
