There is not much time left for the assembly elections in Punjab. But still the tussle between Punjab PCC Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and CM Charanjit Singh Channi is still a concern for the party. However, on Monday, state in-charge Harish Chaudhary held a meeting with both the top leaders. In which many important issues including the upcoming assembly elections were discussed.
Actually, there is a tussle going on between Punjab PCC Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and CM Charanjit Singh Channi regarding government appointments. Many times Siddha has publicly expressed his displeasure against the state government. This controversy has become a headache for the Congress party. Sidhu leaves no chance to target his government and party.
In such a situation, Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary held a meeting with Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Congress State President Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday. This meeting was called at the exact time when Navjot Singh Sidhu had called a press conference a few hours ago regarding the investigation into the 2015 Kotkapura police firing incident and raised questions on the state government.
According to sources, cabinet minister Pargat Singh, close to Navjot Singh Sidhu, was also present in the meeting. During the meeting, Sidhu is believed to have raised the issue of appointment of State Advocate General AP S Deol and Acting Director General of Police (DGP) Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota.
Last week, Sidhu had said that he had withdrawn his resignation as Punjab Congress chief. But in place of Deol, a new Advocate General and DGP Iqbal Preet Singh had put the condition of a new appointment.
