On another user’s tweet, Sharmistha replied, ‘I have seen enough power since childhood. I don’t like it. I want to live a peaceful life and do things that suit my nature.
Sir,I’m quitting politics! If I’ve to continue in politics why should I leave Congress which is my home territory & join any other party? I’ve seen enuf power since my childhood. It doesn’t lure me. I want to lead a peaceful life & do things which are closer to my nature. Simple! https://t.co/38HiO5npMt

In July this year, Sharmistha’s brother and Pranab Mukherjee’s son Abhijit Mukherjee had joined the Trinamool Congress. After this, Suvra Ghosh, general secretary of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee and sister-in-law of Pranab Mukherjee, also joined TMC in August.
Let us inform that after joining the Congress in the year 2014, Sharmistha Mukherjee contested only the 2015 assembly elections. In this election, she lost to Aam Aadmi Party candidate Saurabh Bhardwaj.
