Mamta Banerjee had recently written a letter to the leaders of the major opposition parties of the country including Congress and appealed to unite against the BJP. His appeal seems to be paying off and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan will campaign for the TMC candidate on Monday. Jaya Bachchan from Jabalpur is originally from Bengal. Due to this, Amitabh Bachchan has often been called the son-in-law of Bengal. TMC has included Jaya Bachchan in its list of star campaigners. Jaya Bachchan arrived in Kolkata late Sunday evening and will campaign in support of TMC candidate Arup Biswas from Talliganj on Monday. Biswas is pitted against BJP candidate Babul Supriyo.
This seat is also very much discussed after Nandigram. On one hand, three-time TMC MLA Arup Biswas is going to field to save his seat, while on the other hand Union Minister Babul Supriyo is contesting on behalf of BJP. Babul Supriyo is a popular singer and is considered to have a good hold especially in Bangla cinema. Talking about TaliGanj, this area is the stronghold of Bangla cinema. Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan’s campaign to campaign against her is also a message of solidarity from the opposition parties, which was appealed by TMC chief and CM Mamata Banerjee.
Earlier last month, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav had said that his party would campaign in Bengal in support of TMC. Akhilesh had said that BJP is doing politics of confusion and propaganda in Bengal. We will not let their conspiracy succeed. Earlier, RJD Chief Tejashwi Yadav said that it is our duty to support Mamata Banerjee and strengthen her against the BJP. Not only this, it has been a long-time partner of the BJP and the Shiv Sena, which is now running the government of Maharashtra, has also announced the support of TMC.
Congress is different from this unity, Tejashwi has made this appeal to Pawar
Shiv Sena spokesman Sanjay Raut had recently called Mamata Banerjee a real lioness. Apart from this, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has also supported Mamata Banerjee. However, the Congress is far from these grand alliance efforts and is making efforts to convert the battle of Bengal into a triangular contest. Even the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Bhattacharya wrote letters to Tejashwi Yadav and Sharad Pawar asking them to reconsider the decision to support Mamata.
