India is soon going to get the S-400 air defense missile system from Russia. Russia has started delivering this air defense missile system to India. You can guess the capability of this air defense system that it can destroy enemy missiles in the air in an instant from hundreds of km away. Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) director Dmitry Shugaev said at the Dubai Air Show that Russia has started supplying S-400 air defense missile systems to India. The FSMTC is the main defense export control organization of the Russian government. At the same time, sources in the Indian Defense Industry said that the parts of the Air Defense Missile System have started reaching India and they will first be deployed at a place close to the western border. Sources said that this will be the area from where threats from both the western and northern borders with Pakistan can be dealt with.

Indian defense industry sources said parts of the air defense system are starting to reach India and they will first be deployed closer to the western border to deal with threats from Pakistan and China on both the western and northern borders. India and Russia have signed a deal worth about Rs 35000 crore for this air defense system. Under the deal, India will get five squadrons to deal with an air range of 400 km. The delivery of the first squadron is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Being brought to India by both sea and air routes
Sources said the equipment is being brought to India by both sea and air routes. After the deployment of the first squadron in the country, the IAF will start focusing on the eastern frontiers for its deployment along with providing resources for training of its personnel within the country. Some officers and personnel of the Indian Air Force have also taken training in Russia to operate the S-400.
Equipped with four different missiles
The S-400 missile system is equipped with four different missiles that can destroy enemy aircraft, ballistic missiles and AWACS aircraft from a distance of 400 km, 250 km, 120 km and 40 km respectively. Sources say that while bargaining with Russia on this deal, India managed to reduce about one billion dollars.
