Due to this, the operation of 124 special mail express trains has been suspended in the last one week. However, the Oxygen Express of Railways has ensured oxygen supply to various parts of the country. It has also set a new freight record in April.
The number of special mail express trains, passenger trains and other trains has come down due to the lack of passengers due to the lockdown imposed to prevent the outbreak of Corona in various parts of the country. On April 25, 1514 special mail express trains of the railway were operating, while on May 1, this number stood at 1390 per day. Railways are running 370 special summer trains in the month of April-May. Out of these, 187 trains have been ensured from April 12 to May 2. However, by increasing the number of special cloned trains, the railways have provided more trains on the route on which there are more passengers.
25 oxygen express making supplies: Giving details of the work being done by the Railways through a virtual press conference on Saturday evening, Chairman and CEO of Railway Board, Sunit Sharma said that so far 56 Oxygen Tankers have been delivered to various parts of the country through 25 Oxygen Express. Which has 813 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen. Of these, 25 tankers have been delivered to Uttar Pradesh, ten to Maharashtra, 12 to Madhya Pradesh, 5 to Haryana and four to Delhi. While six tankers are being brought for Delhi, five for Telangana, three for Uttar Pradesh, two for Madhya Pradesh and two for Haryana.
Freight record: Meanwhile, the railways have set a big record for freight in the month of April. It has carried 111.53 MT of freight. Earlier in 2019, 101.04 MT of freight was transported in the month of April.
