‘Rahul is the only option’, Shiv Sena defies Mamata, says TMC can benefit BJP

Before fighting the Modi government, the opposition is fighting among themselves on the issue that under whose leadership the 2024 Lok Sabha elections should be fought? In the midst of a tussle between the Congress and the Trinamool Congress on this issue, the Shiv Sena has told Rahul Gandhi the only option, while rejecting the claim of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ has even said that parties like TMC and Aam Aadmi Party are spoiling the game and will help BJP by doing so.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, who has been very aggressive on the issue of violence in Lakhimpur, has once again been compared to Indira Gandhi. In his weekly column ‘Roktok’ in Saamana, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said he foiled an attempt to cover up the Lakhimpur violence case and the image of Indira Gandhi is reflected in his work. Raut also said that Priyanka’s brother and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is the only leader who can become an alternative to the current government in New Delhi.

Describing TMC and AAP as spoilers of the game, Raut said that they can prove to be helpful only to BJP. The Shiv Sena leader has indicated that if parties like TMC and AAP do not become part of the Congress alliance, then there will be a division of anti-Modi votes, which will benefit the BJP. Shiv Sena is currently running the government in Maharashtra along with Congress and NCP in Maharashtra.

Congress is adamant on contesting elections under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, while Trinamool Congress has called Mamata Banerjee a strong contender and said that Rahul Gandhi has failed. Amidst the tussle between Congress and TMC, the Shiv Sena leader praised Rahul Gandhi fiercely. Referring to his meeting with Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, he wrote, “Rahul Gandhi is determined to fight the Narendra Modi-led central government. Rahul Gandhi started the discussion by saying that the Modi government wants to destroy democracy and he will fight against it.
