Rahul Gandhi will give adjournment notice in Lok Sabha on Pegasus issue, meeting of opposition parties will be held this morning


Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and several other opposition leaders will give adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday over the Pegasus espionage case. According to sources, the decision was taken at a meeting of leaders of the Congress and several other opposition parties on Tuesday. Sources also said that leaders of the Congress and its allies from both the Houses of Parliament will meet on Wednesday morning to discuss the way forward to corner the government in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. Rahul Gandhi will be present in this meeting.

In the meeting held at Parliament House on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Shiv Sena’s Arvind Sawant, DMK leaders TR Baalu ​​and Kanimozhi, Nationalist Congress Party’s Supriya Sule, BSP’s Ritesh Pandey, CPI(M)’s A.M. S Venkatesan, Hasnain Masoodi of National Conference, ET Mohd Bashir of IUML and NK Premachandran of RSP participated.

Sources say that Samajwadi Party was invited for this meeting, but party president Akhilesh Yadav could not attend it due to being busy. However, according to sources, Akhilesh Yadav has expressed his full support. Earlier in the day, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav was present in the meeting with Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge. The presence of BSP MP Ritesh Pandey in the meeting assumes significance as the BSP has often stayed away from opposition meetings in recent years.


Sources said that it was decided in this meeting that Rahul Gandhi, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Arvind Sawant, Supriya Sule, AM Arif, ET Mohammad Bashir and some other leaders will give adjournment notice on Wednesday on Pegasus espionage case. Earlier, Congress MPs Ravneet Singh Bittu and Gurjit Singh Aujla staged a sit-in inside the House for nearly four hours after the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Tuesday.

After the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day at around 4.35 pm, the two Punjab MPs sat on a dharna inside the House on the issue of repeal of agricultural laws. Congress members are demanding repeal of three new agricultural laws of the Centre. There has been a deadlock in both the houses of Parliament for the past several days over Pegasus and some other issues including agricultural laws.
