Srinagar (Loksatya). Three unidentified militants have been killed in an encounter with security forces during a siege and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

He said that based on intelligence information about the presence of terrorists, the Special Operations Group of the State Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Rashtriya Rifle (RR) started a siege and search operation in Kakpora, Pulwama late on Thursday.
He said that while the security forces were closing all the withdrawn points of Kakpora and heading towards a particular area, the terrorists hiding there started firing with automatic weapons. After this, the security forces retaliated and opened fire.

He said that this morning when the security forces personnel were moving towards the area where the terrorists were present, the terrorists opened fire. He said that during this period, the security forces personnel repeatedly appealed to the militants to surrender.
He said that the people living in the houses around the site of the encounter have been evacuated to a safe place. He said that three unidentified terrorists were later killed during the encounter. Large quantities of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the slain militants.
He said that in order to prevent the spread of rumors, mobile internet service has been suspended in Pulwama. Also, additional security forces have been deployed in the surrounding areas to prevent the law and order situation from deteriorating.
