Prime Minister and President congratulated PV Sindhu for victory in Olympics, told India’s pride
India’s badminton star PV Sindhu won the bronze medal by defeating Chinese eighth seed Hi Wing Xiao in straight games at the Tokyo Olympics. The President and the Prime Minister have congratulated Sindhu on this victory in the Olympics. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “We are all excited by the stellar performance from PV Sindhu. Congratulations to him on winning the bronze medal. He is the pride of India and one of our most outstanding Olympians.
At the same time, President Ram Nath Kovind said that PV Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win medals in two Olympic Games. He has set a new benchmark of consistency, dedication and excellence. My heartiest congratulations to him for making India proud.

Let us tell you that in the match played for the bronze medal, Sindhu defeated He Bing Jiao of China 21-13, 21-15 in straight sets. Sindhu won the first set with ease against the Chinese player but struggled to win the second set. With this win, Sindhu has become the first Indian woman athlete to have won a medal for the country in two consecutive Olympic Games.
