Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of life and property due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand. PM Modi has said on Tuesday evening that I am pained by the loss of lives due to heavy rains in some parts of Uttarakhand. At least 16 people died in rain-related incidents from different parts of Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
PM Modi tweeted and said, ‘I am distressed at the loss of lives due to heavy rains in some parts of Uttarakhand. The injured get well soon. Rescue work is on to help the affected people. I pray for everyone’s safety and well being.’
NDRF has rescued more than 300 people from flood affected areas of Uttarakhand. The NDRF said on Tuesday that the force has deployed 15 teams in the state. So far 16 people have died in rain-related incidents. Incessant torrential rains have affected the Kumaon region more and many houses have collapsed there, many people are trapped in the rubble.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appealed to the people not to panic and said that all necessary steps are being taken to bring them out safely. He again appealed to the Chardham pilgrims to stay where they are and not start their journey before the weather improves.
Dhami said the damage caused by the rains is being assessed. He admitted that the incessant rains have had a great impact on the farmers. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to him over phone to take stock of the situation and assured him of all possible help.
