Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday condemned the terrorist attack on an Assam Rifles convoy and said their sacrifice will not be forgotten. An Assam Rifles colonel and 4 jawans were killed in an explosion by militants in Manipur this morning. The Colonel’s wife and son also died in this attack.
The incident took place between 10 am and 11 am today. Colonel Biplab Tripathi, commanding officer of Khuga Battalion of Assam Rifles, his wife and son besides four paramilitary personnel were killed in an ambush in Manipur on Saturday morning.
PM Modi expressed grief by tweeting on this incident. He wrote, “Strongly condemn the attack on the Assam Rifles convoy in Manipur. I pay homage to the soldiers and family members who were martyred today. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. My heartfelt condolences in this hour of grief. Condolences are with the bereaved families.”

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had attacked the Modi government while expressing grief over the incident. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in a tweet said, “Terrorist attack on Army convoy in Manipur once again proves that Modi government is not capable of protecting the nation. My condolences to the martyrs and their families. Nation. Will remember your sacrifice.”
