Hathras case: A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking imposition of President’s rule in Uttar Pradesh (Uttar Pradesh). Tamil Nadu resident lawyer CR Jaisukin has filed an application in the Supreme Court. In this application Hatras case (Hathras case) mentions that fundamental rights are being violated in UP, so presidential rule should be imposed. There is outrage across the country over the allegations of rape and murder of the woman in Hatras, UP. Protest rallies have been held in many parts of the country.

A 20-year-old girl who was gang-raped in Hatras died on September 29 at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. This incident has shaken the whole nation. The brutal incident took place on September 14 in Hathras, UP. The Allahabad High Court has taken cognizance of the matter. The Lucknow bench of the High Court on Thursday said that one of the brutal criminals met his victim and what happened after that, if true, would be like sprinkling salt on their wounds instead of alleviating their family’s grief. The bodies should have been taken to their home, but it was not done. The issue came before us which we considered a matter of public importance and public interest, as it involves allegations against high officials of the state, as a result of which not only the slain person but also his family members have basic mental and fundamental rights. Violations occur.
Significantly, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed in the Hatrash case has submitted its first report to the state government. Following this report, the UP government has suspended SP and four more policemen from Hatrash. Based on the SIT report, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed action against the SP and four policemen.
