If you are planning to travel by train and are thinking of booking tickets then this news is important for you. The Railways has decided to keep the Railway Passenger Reservation System (PRS) closed for six hours for the next seven days in order to normalize passenger services and restore the facility as before.
According to the press release of South Western Railway, this has been done to enable system data upgrade and update of new train numbers etc.
It is to be noted that a large amount of old train numbers and current passenger booking data are to be updated in all Mail/Express trains, hence it is being planned in carefully calibrated phases. It is being applied at night time to reduce the impact.
This activity will be done from the midnight of 14 and 15 November till the night of 20 and 21 November. No PRS services like ticket reservation, current booking, cancellation, inquiry services etc. will be available during these 6 hours.
During this period the railway personnel will ensure advance charting for starting the trains during the affected time. Except PRS services, all other inquiry services including 139 services will continue uninterrupted. Ministry of Railways has requested its customers to support the Ministry in its endeavor to normalize and upgrade passenger services.
