TMC was supported by many non-NDA parties in the West Bengal elections. Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav also went to Bengal and appealed for a vote for Mamata. Pawar could not go to West Bengal but he expressed solidarity with Mamta. After the BJP’s defeat in West Bengal, opposition parties have begun to surround the Modi government at the Center. However, the saffron party returned to power in Assam and then wrested power from the Congress in Puducherry. But the party has suffered a major setback in West Bengal, where it claimed to have won more than 200 seats.
