Inspector Srivallav Sahu of Remuna Police Station said that Sahu and his wife reached the police station last night and alleged that their houses were broken into by their rival group. The police inspector said, “We were about to visit his village for questioning before about 150 people suddenly reached the police station. We immediately closed the gate, but by then 20-30 people entered the police station and attacked the complainants.” , Causing them serious injuries. ”

The mob also attacked the policemen present in the police station. The injured couple was first admitted to the Remuna Community Health Center, but later referred to Balasore Medical College and Hospital after their condition deteriorated. The police are yet to arrest the attackers. Based on CCTV footage, a police team has launched a search operation to nab them.

Last month, a police jeep and a van in Jajpur district were set on fire by a mob in Jajpur district over a fight by two groups. The mob set fire to the police jeep and van of Balichandrapur police station. In February this year, a group of villagers in Dhenkanal district allegedly attacked a police team, and tried to rescue an accused arrested in an oil theft case. In the same month, three policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, were injured in a mob attack while arresting a man accused of extortion in Jagatsinghpur district.
