Now Savarkar’s grandson’s question on Gandhi, a country like India cannot have one father of the nation
After the statement given by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh regarding Savarkar, the ongoing counter-attack is not taking the name of stopping. AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had hit back at Rajnath Singh’s statement that the RSS would one day replace Mahatma Gandhi and make Savarkar the father of the nation. Now Savarkar’s grandson has responded to this and said that in a country like India there can be no one father of the nation.
Savarkar’s grandson Ranjit Savarkar said, ‘I don’t think Gandhi is the father of the nation. In a country like India, there can be no one father of the nation, there are thousands who have been forgotten.

Referring to the controversy about the mercy petitions of Savarkar, who was serving a life sentence in the Andaman in the 1910s, Rajnath Singh said it was the right of a prisoner and he had given the mercy petition at the behest of Mahatma Gandhi.
On this Asaduddin Owaisi retorted saying, ‘They are presenting a distorted history. If this continues, they will remove Mahatma Gandhi and make Savarkar the father of the nation, who was accused of assassinating Mahatma Gandhi and who was ‘involved in the murder’ in the investigation of Justice Jeevan Lal Kapoor.’
