Unseasonal rains have made life difficult in the month of October across the country. Heavy rains are occurring in many states from north to south. There are also reports of landslides at some places. Life has become disturbed in Kerala, while in Uttarakhand, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for three days. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in Delhi NCR, UP, Haryana and Rajasthan for the next two days.
More than 25 people have died in Kerala since Saturday due to rain and landslides. The two hill districts Kottayam and Idukki are the most affected districts of the state. On the other hand, after three days of alert in Uttarakhand, the weather has started opening from today. However, there are still reports of waterlogging in many areas including Nainital in the hilly state of Uttarakhand.
It has been reported from Nainital that more than 150 tourists got trapped due to the rise in the water level of Kosi river here. Not only this, nine laborers were buried alive in the same house due to landslides in the hilly areas of Nainital. Five laborers have died when the wall collapsed. Apart from this, due to the debris, two laborers got lost in the gap of time. In another incident, 10 people are reported to have died due to debris in the house. The team of SDRF and police administration is on alert mode across the state.
Light rain is likely in Uttarakhand from today but still waterlogging has been reported in many plains. On October 23, there is a possibility of rain in the northwest part of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. On the other hand, talking about Himachal Pradesh, there is a possibility of rain in the plains and snowfall in the mountainous areas on 22 and 23 October.
