A delegation led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 23, demanding a caste-based census. Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has given a big statement. He has said that everyone is free to meet the Prime Minister or any other person. Bommai further said that the matter is pending before the Court as well as the Class Commission. We are investigating it.

Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said on Saturday that the power and opposition are together in Bihar on the caste census. All parties have agreed. Leaders of ten parties are going to Delhi with me. We will put our point properly before the Prime Minister. Hopefully the Prime Minister will take a positive stand on this. The Chief Minister was talking to reporters at Patna airport on Saturday while returning from a tour of flood-affected areas of Samastipur.

The Chief Minister said that they would go to Delhi on Sunday evening. The time for meeting the Prime Minister is fixed on 23 August at 11 o’clock in the day. If the Central Government is not ready for the caste census, will the Bihar government conduct the caste census on its own? On this, the Chief Minister said that we have said earlier also that if the caste census is not decided for the entire country, then it will be considered.
