State Health Minister Ma Subramaniam told reporters on Monday that new dengue cases have been reported in the state amid the rains. Dengue has infected 493 people across Tamil Nadu. In view of this threat, a central team has reached the state and will share its expertise with the officials regarding the control of this disease. The Health Minister said that the team members would assist the state officials in taking necessary action against dengue. The team members will inspect the patients at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital here on Tuesday after which they will go to Tiruvallur.
He said, “Today the central team had a meeting with us and talks were held to prevent dengue. He said that the team visited Ranipet district where they appreciated the steps taken by the state government to control dengue.
The Union Health Ministry has expressed concern over the increasing cases of dengue in nine states and union territories including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Punjab and Rajasthan. Along with this, a team of experts has been sent to help these states.
