Bihar: The Ministry of Railways has started Shramik Special trains to take migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at various places due to lockdown. These special trains will run from one place to another at the request of the respective two state governments.
According to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the decision to run the ‘Labor Special’ train from ‘Labor Day’ today to take migrant laborers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons stranded at various places due to lockdown has been taken.
According to standard protocols, these special trains will run from one place to another at the request of the respective state governments sending and receiving these stranded people. Senior officials will be appointed as nodal officers for coordination and smooth operation of ‘labor specials’ on behalf of Railways and State Governments.
They will be examined by the states sending the passengers and permission will be given to only those people, in which no signs will be found. The sending state governments will have to bring these people in batches, following the rules of social distance and other precautions by sitting in sanitized buses till the designated railway station. It will be mandatory for every person to install face cover. The sending states will provide food and water for them at the initial station.
Railways will try to ensure social distance norms and cleanliness with the cooperation of passengers. The railways will provide a meal on the way while traveling on long routes.
On reaching the destination, passengers will be received by the state government. At the same time, their screening, if necessary, will make all kinds of arrangements such as travel beyond quarantine and railway station. Railways have said that in this hour of crisis facing the nation, all officers and employees of Indian Railways are committed to serve fellow Indians and seek the support and cooperation of all.
