Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah demanding that an officer who has knowledge of the local Mizoram language should be appointed as the Chief Secretary of the state. The Chief Minister has told in the letter that the ministers of the state do not know Hindi, many do not even know English, and in such a situation, the Center should change its order and replace the Chief Secretary who does not have experience of working in Mizo language. Is. The Chief Minister has requested Amit Shah to appoint Additional Chief Secretary JC Ramthanga as the new Chief Secretary of the state in place of Renu Sharma.

According to the news of NDTV, the CM has written in his letter, ‘After the retirement of my Chief Secretary, Lalnumavia Shuago of Gujarat cadre, I had requested the existing Additional Chief Secretary (Manipur Cadre) to be made the new Chief Secretary. However, the Home Ministry appointed Renu Sharma as the new Chief Secretary. The Chief Minister wrote this letter on 29 October.


On October 28, 1988 batch IAS officer Renu Sharma was appointed by the Central Government as the Chief Secretary of Mizoram. He was to assume this post from November 1. On the same day, the Mizoram government also ordered JC Ramthanga to take over as the Chief Secretary from November 1. After this, now Mizoram has two chief secretaries.

The Chief Minister wrote in his letter, ‘Most of the Mizos do not know Hindi language and no one in my cabinet understands Hindi. Some ministers also have problems with English. With ministers in such an environment, a Chief Secretary who does not know Mizo language can never prove to be effective.’

He further wrote, ‘This is the reason why the Government of India has never appointed a Chief Secretary in the history of Mizoram, who does not know the language here. Be it the UPA government at the center or the NDA government. After this, the Chief Minister also told Amit Shah that he has been a trusted ally of the NDA since the beginning. The Chief Minister expressed hope that Amit Shah would definitely pay attention to this issue.
