Many areas of Mizoram freed from Corona, more than 300 schools will reopen

In Mizoram, more than 300 schools in areas free from corona virus infection have been allowed to reopen for the new academic session 2021-2022. An official of the School Education Department gave this information.

The official said on Sunday that under the new guidelines on Kovid-19 issued by the state government on August 8, schools located outside the jurisdiction of Aizawl Municipal Corporation were allowed to reopen in areas where the corona virus has spread. There is no case. The School Education Department had on August 9 issued an order allowing reopening of primary to senior secondary level schools in transition-free towns and villages in consultation with the Deputy Commissioners in advance.

At least 376 schools in seven districts, including Aizawl district, have been given permission to reopen for the new academic session 2021-2022, James Lalrinchana, director of the school education department, told PTI. He said that most of these schools have started regular classes, while 27 more schools in Khojaul district will be reopened from Monday.

Lalrinchana said that most of the schools that have been allowed to reopen are located in remote villages where internet connectivity is very poor. He said that the reopening of schools in such villages has helped the students who did not have access to the internet. He said that online classes are going on in schools in the areas where there are still cases of infection. Schools and other educational institutions were closed since March last year due to the spread of corona virus infection. Schools were reopened for some classes on January 22 this year after a drop in infection cases since November last year, but schools were closed again from April due to a second wave of infections.
