The resounding victory of the Trinamool Congress in the assembly elections in West Bengal seems to have bolstered the peasant movement that has been sitting on the borders of Delhi for five months. The victory of Mamta has given a new impetus to the leaders of farmers’ organizations. He believes that the peasant movement has been an important reason for the BJP’s defeat in West Bengal.

The leaders of the United Kisan Morcha have now warned that if the central government does not accept their demands, then BJP will be openly opposed in next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh on the lines of West Bengal. Prominent leaders of the United Kisan Morcha Balbir Singh Rajewal, Gurunam Singh Chadhuni, Rakesh Tikait etc. appealed to the people not to vote for the BJP through West Bengal rallies, public meetings and conferences.

The leaders of the Morcha had termed the three agricultural laws of the Central Government as anti-farmer. These leaders said that they have been sitting on a dharna for five months, but the government does not listen to them. Farmer leaders claim that the movement has tarnished the image of the government and is one of the major reasons for the BJP’s debacle in the Bengal elections.

Senior Morcha leaders Gurnam Singh Chadhuni and Rakesh Tikait have said that the government should understand the defeat of West Bengal. He said that farmers associations are ready to talk to the government. The government should repeal all three agricultural laws without delay. Simultaneously, a new law should be announced to guarantee procurement at the minimum support price (MSP). Apart from this, the farmer is not ready for anything. If the government does not agree to their demands, then the BJP will be opposed in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. There will be an appeal to go from village to village to vote for any other political party instead of BJP.
