Mamta Banerjee did not attend the meeting but she entered the room from where Modi was meeting. The Chief Minister entered the concerned room and submitted a report to the Prime Minister on the damage caused by the cyclone in the state and sought a package of Rs 20,000 crore for the redevelopment of the most affected areas. Banerjee was accompanied by Chief Secretary Bandyopadhyay. Hours after the meeting, the Center ordered Bandyopadhyay’s Delhi transfer.

The BJP MLA official said in a digital press conference that I have no words to criticize the manner in which the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of West Bengal insulted the Prime Minister. The official claimed that Banerjee questioned his presence at a meeting held at Kalpakunda air base in West Medinipur district on Friday.

He said that he was invited to the meeting as Leader of Opposition in the state assembly and MLA from cyclone affected Nandigram. The BJP leader said that she (Banerjee) is trying to show her arrogance with her attitude and doing petty politics. Banerjee has claimed that opposition leaders were not invited to similar review meetings held in Gujarat and Odisha affected by the cyclone.
