Leaders like P. Chidambaram and Salman Khurshid are sabotaging the efforts of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi?

I have come to attend the feet of Mata Vaishno Devi. Rahul Gandhi, who reached the Vaishno Devi temple in September, was seen in full devotion and it was being considered as a revenge of Congress politics. Not only this, when Priyanka Gandhi also reached Kashi Vishwanath last month, she was seen with sandalwood on her forehead, garlands of Tulsi in her hands. Rahul and Priyanka’s visits to temples have been linked to the soft Hindutva politics of the Congress. The Antony Committee, set up to review the rout of the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, had said in its report that the anti-Hindu image of the party was promoted among the majority, which has been overwhelming.

Since then, the Congress has been making constant efforts that it should not get stuck on any such issue from anywhere, which would give an opportunity to the BJP to promote it as an opponent of the majority society. This was the reason that the party gave a firm opinion regarding the Supreme Court’s decision on Ram Mandir. Apart from this, there was no sharp opposition to the removal of Article 370. During the 2018 elections in Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi’s visit to temples was even written as a temple run, but he and Priyanka Gandhi have been consistently indicating the Congress’s move towards soft Hindutva.

Differences in Congress on comparison of Hindutva with Islamic State

The developments of the past one week have sabotaged the efforts of Rahul and Priyanka. During the release of Congress leader Salman Khurshid’s book on the Supreme Court’s decision on Ram temple, Digvijay Singh said about Veer Savarkar that he was not against eating beef. Not only this, P. Chidambaram directly questioned the Supreme Court’s decision on the Ram temple. He said that even though both sides had accepted the decision, it was not correct. Not only this, in this book, Khurshid compared Hindutva with Islamic State and Boko Haram, on which there was a divided opinion in the Congress itself.

Khurshid’s book and P. Chidambaram’s statement hurt the efforts?

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad called it wrong and said that Hindutva cannot be compared with Islamic State. This controversy did not even stop that now Mani Shankar Ayan has created a new controversy by praising the Mughal rulers. Praising rulers like Akbar and Babur, Aiyar said that today such people are in power in the country, who consider 80 percent of the people to be Indians. Salman Khurshid’s book, Digvijay Singh and P. Chidambaram’s statements and Mani Shankar Aiyar’s remarks just before the UP elections may weigh heavily on the Congress. In such a situation, the question definitely arises whether these Congress leaders are sabotaging the efforts of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka to present an image of soft Hindutva?
