In order to strengthen the oxygen supply system in the country, the government is hoping to provide 10000 oxygen-rich beds in a short time by creating a temporary hospital near the oxygen producing companies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held several meetings on Sunday to review the current situation arising out of the increasing cases of Kovid-19 in the country and after that in a statement issued by the government, he said that he has made progress in converting nitrogen plants to oxygen plants. A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said that in view of the need for medical oxygen amid the outbreak of the Kovid-19 pandemic, the government has explored the feasibility of converting existing nitrogen plants to oxygen plants for oxygen production.
The statement said, various potential industries have been identified in which existing nitrogen plants can be converted to produce oxygen and used in medical work. The process of converting existing Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) nitrogen plants to produce oxygen was discussed in this review meeting.
Explain that carbon plants use carbon molecular suture (CMS) whereas zeolite molecular suture (ZMS) is required for the production of oxygen. The statement said that CMS can therefore be replaced with ZMS and with some other changes such as oxygen analyzers, control panel systems, flow valves, etc. to produce oxygen in existing nitrogen plants.
The PMO said that after consultation with the industries, 14 industries have been identified so far, where conversion of nitrogen plants is in progress and further, 37 industries with the help of industry associations have been identified for this task. Has been.
The statement said that the modified nitrogen plant for the production of oxygen can either be transferred to a nearby hospital and if it is not possible to move this plant, it can be used for on-site production of oxygen , Which can be transported to the hospital by special vessel or cylinder. The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary, Home Secretary, Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and other senior officials.
