Congress crisis in Punjab is increasing. Despite the opposition of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the party tried to prepare a new leadership by handing over the responsibility of state president to Navjot Singh Sidhu, but this experience is becoming a problem and the party has started feeling itself trapped in this fight. . A senior party leader said that the battle between Captain and Sidhu is not expected to end for the time being. Because, the real fight between the two leaders will start over ticket distribution. Both will try to get maximum tickets to their respective supporters, so that after winning the elections, they can negotiate on the strength of the number of MLAs.
A Punjab Congress functionary said the party workers were disappointed with the fight. Because, for the last three-four months, instead of preparing itself for the elections, the party is battling with internal strife. This is not a good sign for any political party, when it is time to fight together, we are fighting amongst ourselves.
The party was confident of victory in Punjab
The party was confident of victory in Punjab on the basis of the peasant movement, the end of the alliance between the BJP and the Akali Dal and the functioning of the Captain’s government. But the way internal strife emerged in the last few months, it has shaken the confidence of the party. Because, it is becoming more of a battle of ego than election benefits of the party.
There should be no loss of any MLA or leader in the fight of both.
The senior leader said that the Congress leadership should instruct Captain and Sidhu to stop rhetoric and work in harmony. Along with this, care should also be taken that no MLA or leader is harmed in the fight between the two. Because, the Captain will try his best that the MLAs who raise their voice against him or support Sidhu do not get tickets. Sidhu will do this with the Captain’s supporters.
Advice to the party to take a quick decision
The party leadership should strictly rein in Navjot Singh Sidhu this time. Because, the latest controversy has arisen because of his advisors. Congress general secretary and state in-charge Harish Rawat has indicated that action will be taken against Sidhu’s advisers, but the party should take a decision soon.
