ITBP needs more manpower according to the new BOP, but due to non-approval of the new battalion, there is a possibility of increasing the deployment gap. The ITBP was approved last year to make about 47 BOPs in Arunachal Pradesh for better and more efficient surveillance along the China border. This BOP is expected to be made for the next one and a half years. But the need for seven new battalions was told to fill the gap of deployment of soldiers. The process of their formation has not been completed yet.
Sources said, in view of the situation prevailing in the last few months along the China border, ITBP needs an additional battalion. Two dozen additional battalions are needed for surveillance along the entire China border. Sources said that according to the new BOP, seven battalions should be recommended immediately. According to sources, the government is assessing the additional battalions and other basic requirements in all the security forces. The requirement of additional battalions is expected to be met in a phased manner. An official associated with the security strategy said that the China border is the top priority of the government.
In view of the important role of ITBP on the border, there is also a preparation to equip the security force with state-of-the-art security equipment. Much work has also been done on electronic surveillance. The need for additional battalions will be met rationally.
