India will remember August 14 as ‘Partition Vibhisika Memorial Day’, PM Modi said – the pain of partition cannot be forgotten


Just a day before the 72nd anniversary of independence, the Modi government has taken a big decision. From now on 14th August will be remembered in India as ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Memorial Day’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced that August 14 will be observed as Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day in memory of people’s struggles and sacrifices and said the pain of Partition can never be forgotten. Let us tell you that India will celebrate its 75th Independence Day tomorrow i.e. on Sunday.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the pain of partition of the country can never be forgotten. Because of hatred and violence, lakhs of our sisters and brothers were displaced and even lost their lives. In memory of the struggle and sacrifice of those people, it has been decided to celebrate 14th August as ‘Vibhishika Memorial Day’.

He further said that this day of #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay i.e. ‘Vibjan Vibhisika Memorial Day’ will not only inspire us to eliminate the poison of discrimination, animosity and ill-will, but it will also strengthen unity, social harmony and human sensibilities.

Let us tell you that India celebrates its Independence Day on 15th August, while Pakistan celebrates it on 14th August. On August 14, India was divided into two and a new country was born. Pakistan was carved out as a Muslim country after the partition of India by the British colonial rule in 1947. Lakhs of people were displaced and several lakhs lost their lives due to the rampant riots.
