I will quit politics if I win against Mamata Banerjee by less than 50,000 votes from Nandigram: Shuvendra Adhikari


Shuvendu Adhikari said that when Mamata Banerjee and her nephew run the Trinamool Congress in an ‘autocratic’ manner, the decision was taken after deliberations by the BJP candidates. The team will have to decide on my candidacy.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader is leaving the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Shuvendu Officer (Suvendu Adhikari) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee (CM Mamata Banerjee) accepted her bid to contest from Nandigram for her assembly seat and said she would defeat him (Mamata Banerjee) in the elections, otherwise she would quit politics. However, the former Trinamool leader said that the BJP leadership was not like the Trinamool Congress indiscriminately and would take a final decision on the candidates after detailed discussions. The day before, Banerjee had surprised everyone by announcing to elect the assembly from Nandigram. Political veteran Shuvendu Adhikari has won this seat.

“If I field my party candidate from Nandigram (Nandigram assembly constituency), I will defeat them by a margin of at least 50,000 votes, otherwise I will quit politics,” the official said. But he said the Trinamool Congress is where Banerjee and his nephew are running. In the ‘autocratic’ way, the decision is taken after discussion of the candidates in the BJP and the party has to decide on my candidature. “I don’t know where I will be taken from or not,” he told BJP workers after a three-kilometer road show.

He said that Mamata Banerjee had recalled Nandigram just before the election and accused an IPS officer involved in the Nandigram shooting incident against her of increasing her service four times. The BJP leader alleged that the Banerjee attitude of the people of Nandigram but this time it will not work and his party will be democratically dumped in the Bay of Bengal. He claimed that most of the people in Mamata Banerjee’s meeting were brought from outside.
